Pokémon games have just conditioned us to check all trash cans for items, haven't they? There's also the PokeStar Studios where you can make movies from Pokémon battles, which doesn't make all that much sense, but okay. I love the medal I got for checking trash cans I knew were empty. There's now a medal system as well, which is the Pokémon version of achievements or trophies, and it adds another obsessive element to the game. It also lets you know when you've encountered every creature that can be found there, making it much easier to catch them all. Other new features include a habitat list, which displays all the Pokémon you've encountered in each location. and Burgh's is filled with silk tracks that transport you around. For example Elesa's gym takes place on a runway. The gyms in previous Pokémon games have always been themed, but the leader's personality and style feels much more infused in the design of their gym. Speaking of gyms, they're so much fancier this time around. and Nimbasa's rollercoaster gym has become a permanent rollercoaster ride, and a new gym has been built. Driftveil city is now a tourist resort area, with all the houses replaced with hotels. but I love how certain cities have changed as well.
Yeah, although it sometimes feels like they're doing an obvious wink wink nudge nudge to the first game. And a lot of people you meet along the way will refer to how things have changed from two years ago. For instance, Cheren, who was one of your rivals in the first game, is now the first gym leader in Aspertia City, and Bianca, your other rival, is now Professor Juniper's assistant. I did enjoy seeing how the region has changed over the two years. They only have so many pixels to work with, but yeah, the guy's hair doesn't look much better.
And for the first time, your starting town has a Pokémon centre and a gym! But what is with your character's hair? The girl has these massive Princess Leia buns plus pigtails, and standing next to anyone else makes your head look massive! Me too! The beginning part of the game takes place in three new towns to the west of Castellia City and your whole journey takes you on a different path to the first game, even if you do face some of the same gym leaders. Black and White 2 however, takes place two years after the original games, with a new story and new areas to explore which I quite enjoyed. Previous games like Pokémon Emerald and Platinum were more enhanced remakes, being essentially the same game with added features and minor tweaks. But Black and White 2 is actually quite different from what we've come to expect from same generation sequels.Īffirmative.
This isn't anything revolutionary for the series you still set out on your quest to defeat 8 gym leaders, stop the bad guys and become the Pokémon Champion by conquering the Elite 4. It's time to return to the Unova region and catch em all again in Pokémon Black and White 2. Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2
